In Philosophy class yesterday, our professor pointed out that Ateneans are elitist. There we have it folks, an affirmation from a reliable source. I guess this makes it an objective observation now rather than just mere, um, hatin'.
Which brings me back to my immersion experience, and how I wish now that I didn't have as much fun. It would have been better as in more effective if I had felt something closer to my area's being less fortunate. In Philo class yesterday too, I learned that in order to define yourself, a juxtaposition with others, with differents must take place. fun is part of my every day, and having fun during my immersion made me feel like I was home, which wasn't the whole point of the activity.
Speaking of Philosophy, my friend Bea and I dropped by a Christmas greeting card exhibit last night at De La Costa, and while we were picking the ones we like, a voice comes out from behind saying "Bea, 'wag mo na tingnan yan. 'Wag na." It was sir Mariano.
Um. I don't want to talk about Glee.

Nature is so fascinating.
I was making myself some juice and noticed that our neighbor's dog was howling wildly, then I remembered hearing another dog howling earlier today when my aunt and I were walking home from somewhere. Also, I saw a cockroach chilling steady on our street, which is a rarity because they instinctually scamper when there are people. I got nervous and started speculating another big flood.
Then around thirty minutes ago, while working on the computer, the table shook...along with everything else. Then the dog shut up and I felt relieved because I know I won't be seeing any more roaches tonight.
I've encountered these forecasts so many times before but I'm always amazed every single time. Sometimes I feel stupid and scared, then I see these animals relying solely on instinct, and they're doing pretty fine.
God you genius, you.
Also, the genius behind the Incan civilization's yupana and the Fibonacci sequence. Land and years and technologies apart but they have the same concept. Those Incans must have been awesome mathematicians.

I wish my university would stop brainwashing and spoon-feeding their students. Whatever their methods are right now of getting through the students' heads and trying to instill social responsibility isn't as effective as they think it is/would eventually be. If anything, I fear it gets through to them as messianic, "We Help The Marginalized Because We Can" taken in a wrong sense.
Talk of graduation, if not thesis, is in almost every conversation. We sit down to eat and then reevaluate our ambitions and talk of mental flowcharts about after-college endeavors.
Tomorrow I go to my one and only class for the day. My professor's nice, sure, but I am kind of getting sick of all the political bias. Tomorrow, I hope she'd leave her rants outside the classroom and talk with us about how the whole system should be. It's a downer to be talking badly about people first thing in the morning, three times a week.
I am disappointed, too, that nobody, not even supposedly esteemed and educated people like my professors who we're supposed to look up to and be inspired by, respects our leaders as much anymore. I'm not even pro-anyone right now but I wish people would stop yakking about everyone else's messes and leave some room for other people's dignity, at the very least.
